L'ayover

One leg down, one to go! After a pretty smooth flight (I'm a weirdo in that I find mild turbulence kind of rock-you-to-sleep relaxing) that began ominously, with the woman at the end of my aisle immediately announcing "This is going to be a terrible flight, I can just tell," I landed in Charles Gaulle Airport, where I'll be connecting to my second flight to Vienna in just a few minutes here. Oh man it's a nice airport. Carpeted and quiet (no music or ads and pretty minimal announcements), the only puzzling thing to me is my total inability to locate a drinking fountain. Okay!  But on the other hand, they do have free newspapers for Air France passengers:

And I was able to grab a delicious takeaway sandwich (ham, lettuce tomato, egg yolk, dijon, brie) and a little pastry (with three perfect raspberries) to celebrate the breaking-in of my new passport. (I was pleasantly surprised to find that I still retain enough French to get through some basic passport-control, ordering-food chores without people getting disgusted with me and reverting to English. Small victories!)

Off to take one more whirl in search of water and then off again to Austria and (eventually) real sleep in excess of 5 hours in an actual bed! O BRAVE NEW WORLD and so forth!
