Lisboa

Really not sure if this space will continue (either as it is, or as a subset to a more comprehensive website that I half-built before the pandemic made it all seem pretty pointless) but since it's essentially a log of my travels, I'm taking this spot here to drop my video and some photos from my last pre-pandemic trip. Feeling grateful (though also very unplanned and lightly-holding-things) to be starting to think again about travel on the other side of vaccinations. For the near future, if I undertake any, it's still going to be focused on camping, outdoor breaks from city life, putting off most of my most-missed and most-eager-to-explore destinations until I can engage with the fullness of life as it's lived there. But it's nice to be daydreaming again, at least.

After the jump: Lisbon, start of March, 2020.

I've got a journal of thoughts from my time in Lisbon not worth transcribing here, but the one thing I will say is: I still cannot believe that I ran 17+ miles there (my phone died before I finished my loop through the city and up into the forested hills) as part of my marathon training. I don't know that I ever need to do that again (and if you'd asked me in 2018 if I'd have run TWO miles anywhere in the world I'd have seriously doubted it) but what a nice reminder that unexpected things can happen, and that there's always some horizon or way of being worth exploring. Now, let's see if we can get the clouds to lift and find some more as futures start to become imaginable again...
