Well, here we go…
Is this enough bags, feels like we need more bags. #bags |
The finish to the semester was, true to form, exhausting and intense and rewarding. Graduated some folk I’ve spent most of the last three years with, said my farewells to some of the best coworkers ever, and frantically packed up my life (twice! In Michigan and again in Illinois!) while grading and muscling through year end admin. It’s been plenty! And now we see what’s next.
Tonight it’s off to Barcelona via a lonnnng layover in Dublin (albeit not long enough for me to feel I can leave the airport even to revisit my beloved Chester Beatty Library) and we’ll be into a month of recovering from the hardest year I think I’ve ever had, plus setting up a home with Jenny, putting final stray admin to rest back home, and starting work to prep for my grant in the fall. I’ll be stateside for a couple weeks for visa clearance purposes (hopefully just 2, 3 at the most) and then we are fully in it. Golly.
I’ve been too busy in wrap up mode to get my head clear or think about what I’m heading into (should be fun when I get to process THAT) but for now I am just beyond eager and grateful for the path ahead. And (famous last words) optimistic that this space might - MIGHT - return to a semblance of life! Stay tuned! If you even care! I refuse to tell you how to live your life! Goodbye!
