Roman Holiday

Well, tomorrow morning I leave Rome after an exhausting, energizing, bracing, and complicated week. I think I'm going to split this one into a few posts, not that I have anything exceptionally interesting to say (did you know that Rome has: GELATO??? STAY TUNED FOR MORE TIPS ON ROME) but because there was a lot for me to digest, and it's late, and I would like to go to BED before my final morning in the city. One last cappuccino and cornetto and then I hop the train to Spello, basically Rome's polar opposite in terms of energy and size and chaos. Two days of Italian hill-townery is exactly what I need after the week this was.

But in the meantime, howzabout a quick li'l video and a quick li'l photo to give a (very) little flavor of what this all felt like? Music for the video is "Blue Skies" by Noah and the Whale, which served as a kind of earworm-mantra for the spring, and now joins the parade of tunes that I'm sort of putting in a video memory box as the summer rolls along. (How's that for a Midnight Metaphor.) (I'm going to bed immediately after posting this.)

Ciao, Roma. You been swell.

Some of the excellent street art in Trastevere. Much more in the video above. It's fun to see millennia of graffiti/street art in one city. This place is bonkers.
